Jon Braman and David Austerweil at Freebird Books
Ukulele-rapper-songwriter Jon Braman found his ukulele in a garbage can in Port Washington, NY. Strange but true, Jon now writes, raps and performs original hip hop music with no more accompaniment than his ukulele, and sometimes his wife Lisette's mermaid harmonies. But there's nothing novelty about the act. Jon's songs are political, funky, and might even make you want to dance. You can hear his music at www.myspace.com/jonbraman and buy his first CD "Sprouting Daisies Out Of My Hair" at www.cdbaby.com/jonbraman.
David Austerweil lives in Sunset Park, Brooklyn with his wife Rovika and Zinc and Hobbie, their cat and dog. His poems have appeared in The Drexel Online Journal, Poems Niederngasse, The Columbia Review and Kritya: A Journal of Poetry. Some of his photographs were recently part of the exhibit Eye Candy at Park Slope’s Cocoa Bar. In June, he will have his first solo exhibit at Ozzie’s Coffee in Park Slope. For more information about his poetry and photography, visit him at www.davidausterweil.com.
